I am pleased to welcome Cindy Starnino as Director of Academic Affairs for the Integrated Health and Social Services University Network for West-Central Montreal (CIUSSS West-Central Montreal).

In this position, Ms. Starnino will ensure that the academic affairs mission realizes its potential in collaboration with the scientific directors and education directors, and through the advanced integration of the mission’s six key mandates: medical and university education; research; transfer, mobilization and exploitation of knowledge; development of cutting-edge practices; evaluation of technologies and modes of intervention; and visibility and influence. She will ensure that there is a strong orientation towards innovation within CIUSSS West-Central Montreal and will oversee the implementation of innovative procedures and practices.

As Director, Ms. Starnino aims to develop an advanced academic and learning environment in every area of CIUSSS West-Central Montreal, leading to the highest quality of services for our users and a greater level of visibility for our university mission.

Previously, Ms. Starnino was Director of University Affairs at Montréal West Island Integrated University Health and Social Services Centre, where she focused on developing teaching, research, innovative practices, knowledge transfer, and evaluation of technology and modes of intervention. Earlier, she was Associate Director of Multidisciplinary Services for CIUSSS West-Central Montreal, and she served as Director of Quality, Performance and University Affairs and as Director of the Support Program for the Autonomy of Seniors (SAPA) at CSSS Cavendish.

In addition, Ms. Starnino has been active on several boards of directors and strategic committees, where she advanced the quality of services for seniors in Quebec and in Canada.

Ms. Starnino holds a Master’s degree in social work from McGill University.

“I am dedicated to innovation and promoting continuous links between the world of practice and research,” she says. “I will continue to build solid relationships and partnerships with our multiple stakeholders to ensure that our researchers, staff and students thrive and shine.”

Together with Ms. Starnino and the other members of the management team, I am enthusiastic about achieving our goals together. Ms. Starnino’s experience with university affairs and her drive to foster and promote research and teaching excellence at CIUSSS West-Central Montreal will benefit staff in clinical and non-clinical settings and will, by extension, benefit our patients, as well.
