Extensive experience in community service makes Gail Adelson’s appointment to the Board of Directors of CIUSSS West-Central Montreal a natural move. With health care as one of her main passions (education is the other), she has sat on the Finance and Audit Committee of the Jewish General Hospital, and has served as the inaugural Chair of the Advisory Board of McGill University's Faculty of Medicine.
Having dedicated 25 years to the community, Ms. Adelson sees her role on the network Board as an opportunity to be an advocate for positive change. In particular, she says she is impressed by the holistic approach of Dr. Lawrence Rosenberg, the network’s President and CEO, to medicine as well as his focus on a better integration of primary, secondary and tertiary care. Improving the medical system will help to keep young people in Quebec, she adds.
Ms. Adelson also brings her substantial expertise in governance to the Board. As President of Camp B’nai B’rith, she led an initiative to restructure its board to ensure strong future governance. She did the same with the Women’s Philanthropy division at Federation CJA.
“Our medical system needs care,” Ms. Adelson says. “Fortunately, the government did a great job in creating a Board that understands its role. The Board members of CIUSSS West-Central Montreal are strong people with a clear, community-minded vision.”
